It was in response to the numerous requests from our dancers that we first decided to book dance breaks in Bournemouth. What a success they have proved to be. Even the weather has played ball and the sun shone most years. We soon proved how much our South West dancers enjoy going away as a group by the popularity of our breaks in Newquay, Dawlish, as well as Bournemouth – and now we are joined by couples and groups from all over the country.

Dancing provides a great social life off the dance floor as well as on it and most supporters get together in small groups to socialise in other ways.

But you can't beat going away for a regular dance break to forge friendships and to get to know better those you only smile at and say 'hi'. to on the dance floor. Many dancers come to us in groups, both large and small.

The Wessex Hotel is among the favourites for dancers and we have booked every May since 2006. It has a large ballroom, high standards, plenty of parking, good food and is only a short walk from the promenade and a comfortable walk into town.

Our breaks are usually 3 nights but, in Bournemouth, dance holidays are traditionally 5 nights. But, we have been able to go for the happy medium of 4 nights - (quite enough on the trot for most of us), due to the bank Holiday shortening the week.

We arrive (own car for transport) on Monday, leaving on Friday morning.

Our 2012 theme nights will be:

• Monday: Britain In Bloom – The gardens of England: This theme calls for floral imagination.
• Tuesday: Oklahoma Hoedown – for cowhands, cowgirls and pretty maids in gingham, frills and straw bonnets.
• Wednesday: International Night – you choose the country you would like to represent – and dress appropriately by colour or style.
• Thursday: Our May Ball – is a date for dressing up: evening wear please

You don't have to follow our themes but it's more fun if you do.
