Dancing nightly to Henry's music in the larger of the two ballrooms at this town's
favourite hotel for dance groups.
Our search for a new venue in North Devon did prove fruitful. We have found a lovely but smallish family–run hotel with two ballrooms (one big enough for us to take 80 dancers quite comfortably) in Ilfracombe.
This is a very worthwhile budget–priced dance break. The hotel does not have an ostentatious or modern purpose–built exterior or lobby but it is a delightful Victorian building with a small frontage but an amazingly extensive interior. It has just over 50 very confortable rooms – 1980’s style – fully carpeted with spacious bathrooms – and superb, very friendly and efficient service. Four of us went to “test drive” the accommodation and food. We were completely won over within hours. The hotel was full with two groups staying and these guests had kept returning for years. There is some car parking on site but we have arranged extra facilities at a privately–run car park just a few yards away, for which you will be given a special window sticker. The hotel is centrally located and just a 50 yard level walk to the sea front and close to the famous “Tunnels Beaches”.
Those of our dancers we asked about the idea seemed so keen that we were encouraged to go ahead and by late February, we already had over 60 booked and deposit–paid so we have reserved extra rooms. We feel sure you will enjoy exploring new countryside and towns (including Atlantic Village). With the whole of Exmoor to explore, towns like Barnstaple and Bideford as well as Ilfracombe for shopping and the rugged North Devon coastline and resorts to visit – will four days (3 nights) be enough?
The evenings of dancing to Henry's carefully chosen ballroom music will keep you on your toes and foot–tapping the nights away for sure.
For those who may not have joined us before: we play an accross–the–board mixture of Ballroom, Latin and Sequence dance music, with some Old Time and the occasional Line Dance added into the programme.
Theme nights will be:
FRIDAY – INDIAN SUMMER – so ladies, keep summer dresses
handy for this occasion
SATURDAY – THE ESSENCE OF EXMOOR AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS – go green if you wish
SUNDAY – AUTUMN GLORY BALL – dress to impress (evening wear)
