Dancing
provides a great social life off the dance floor as well
as on it and most supporters get together in small groups
to socialise in other ways.
But
you can’t beat going away for an annual dance break
to forge friendships and to get to know better those you
only smile at and say "hi" to on the dance floor.
We had a great time last November with over 100 dancers.
Encouraged by many of our regular supporters, Henry and Jeannie
Clark are planning their sixth 3-day break to round off the
Autumn. Many who joined us last November and others from far
and wide have already been asking for booking forms.
We have reserved one of the best ballrooms in Cornwall at Newquay's
premier hotel, the Atlantic on the headland, for a real bargain
break, though the hotel's prices have increased again this year.
The dates have been brought forward to late October this time,
so National Trust Properties and tourist attractions are still
open.
It is a huge ballroom with a revamped dance floor and a good
surface. So this opportunity will be extended to other dancers
who want to join the 3-day party which involves social dancing
(mainly ballroom, Latin and sequence) each evening. Book now
- Earlybirds get the best rooms. Daytimes will be free to explore
and even do a bit of early Christmas shopping (Truro is the
favourite), although morning practice sessions will be arranged
if there is a demand for them.
Our dancers seem to like theme nights because it helps to focus
their planning and packing so for 2008 these will be:
- Saturday:
GOSSAMER BALL - Everybody in pale colours (ladies & gentlemen
please!) and light, floaty fabrics can make a comeback.
- Sunday:
KALEIDOSCOPE OF COLOUR - use your imagination.
- Monday:
HALLOWEEN BALL - time for black, orange and silver - even
ghosts, ghouls and witches if you wish.
